General objective of the master's program is to train highly specialized human resources in the fields of Biological and Agricultural Sciences and Exact Sciences and Engineering; likewise, it will train scientists with high academic quality to develop basic and applied research that impacts the solution of relevant problems with a humanistic and ethical approach.

The program's overarching goal is to promote basic and/or applied research, expanding decision-making capacity, organization, management, and critical thinking skills, in order to generate scientific and/or technological products that help improve social problems.
 
Specific objectives

  • To train the student in key areas of Biological and Agricultural Sciences; and Exact Sciences and Engineering, with emphasis on the field where they focus their thesis work.
  • To develop in the student skills and a scientific culture so that he or she is able to participate in research projects related to Biological and Agricultural Sciences; and Exact Sciences and Engineering and in the solution of complex problems.
  • To provide technological and scientific training to students to facilitate their integration into the labor market of the educational, scientific and technological system of Jalisco and the region; including the possibility of continuing with doctoral studies in disciplines related to Biological and Agricultural Sciences; and Exact Sciences and Engineering. 
  • To increase the scientific production of academics from the University of Guadalajara who attend the MCEI with the participation of the students of the same.
  • To generate knowledge and technological innovation, with a scientific, humanistic and ethical approach.
  • Generate knowledge for the development of technological innovations that can be patented.
  • Develop critical and reflective thinking skills that lead to the generation and application of knowledge in the different areas of Biological and Agricultural Sciences; and Exact Sciences and Engineering. 
  • Develop critical, analytical and initiative skills for the study of natural phenomena from a biological and agricultural perspective.
  • Increase integrity, honesty, perseverance, tenacity, order, discipline, and responsibility.
  • Develop a high sense of sensitivity and social solidarity.
  • Develop the ability to critically handle scientific and/or technical information from specialized sources.

Admission Requirements

450+
These are those established in the current university regulations applicable to postgraduate studies, as well as the following:
  • Simple copy of the degree or graduation certificate and proof of completion of social service in areas of knowledge of Biological and/or Agricultural Sciences or in Exact Sciences and Engineering or related areas at the discretion of the Postgraduate Academic Board.
  • Have a minimum average of 80 in undergraduate studies supported by the original certificate or document that is comparable to the previous studies, as the case may be.
  • Have a Unique Population Registry Code (CURP). In the case of foreigners, it must be valid.
  • Letter of intent explaining the reasons for taking the program.
  • To accredit the admission process established by the Postgraduate Academic Board, which includes a preparatory course and an admission exam, and to pass it with the score established by the Board itself.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the English language with a TOEFL score of 450 or its equivalent.
  • Interview with the Admissions Committee or Academic Board made up of Postgraduate professors, so that the applicant's profile for the Postgraduate program can be assessed.
  • Approve the other requirements published in the respective call for applications.

 
Applicants, graduates and/or degree holders of the University of Guadalajara are exempt from complying with the delivery of a simple copy or original of the requirements established in sections a) and b) of this resolution, since the school archive already has the electronic information of the same.
 
For students with previous studies completed abroad, in addition to the above, the following is required:

The degree, certificates and birth certificate must be apostilled or the applicable procedure for countries not members of the Hague Convention and if they are in a language other than Spanish, accompany a translation by an accredited expert.
