The Master's Degree in Business and Economic Studies was created in 1996, with the intention of training high-level researchers and teachers, specialized in the study of business, necessary to generate the knowledge and train the human resources required to face the challenges associated with a highly competitive and unstable economic environment.

The novelty of its approach, in the sense that it integrates the economic perspective with that of business, and the quality of its academic staff allowed this program to be admitted to the National Registry of Quality Postgraduate Programs (at that time called the National Registry of Postgraduate Programs of Excellence) of the SECIHTI, where it is currently considered as a Consolidated Program, with a research focus.

Currently, the Master's Program in Business and Economic Studies is a national benchmark program and the only one of its kind to be recognized as a Consolidated Program within the National Postgraduate Program (PNPC). Despite the time that has passed and the number of students enrolled across 23 graduating classes, the demand for highly qualified researchers and professors specializing in the business field continues to grow, and this trend is expected to continue.

In this sense, the program has consolidated its prestige and focus, as well as maintaining its relevance, and is aligned with those taught at various leading universities internationally, a situation that has led to this program being considered one of the best alternatives at the national level to carry out studies prior to admission to national and international doctoral programs.
