The Master's Program in Medical Microbiology is a graduate program focused on research into easily and rapidly transmissible diseases caused by pathogens. This program's mission is to train professionals with a solid academic foundation in the field of infectious diseases, considering human, animal, and environmental health, with an emphasis on cellular, molecular, and genetic biology. Our vision is to maintain the highest quality graduate program in medical microbiology in the country. This vision entails training Masters in Medical Microbiology with complex and critical thinking skills, who will contribute to the generation of knowledge and technological development for the identification and solution of the health problems facing our society.
 
The Master's Program in Medical Microbiology is a classroom-based, research-oriented program with an estimated duration of four academic semesters. The degree is awarded upon completion of a research thesis.
 
The call for applications is annual, published in August for entry in January of the following year.

Admission Requirements

  • These are those established in the current university regulations applicable to postgraduate studies, as well as the following: 
    • Possess a bachelor's degree or graduation exam certificate and proof of completion of social service for the bachelor's degree, in a biomedical area such as Medicine, Dentistry, Biology, Chemistry, Veterinary Medicine, Biotechnology, Nutrition among others, that allow the development of Medical Microbiology and that are academically sufficient in the judgment of the Academic Board of the postgraduate program.
    • Have a minimum average of 80 in undergraduate studies, supported by a certificate. 
    • Demonstrate a minimum level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR), preferably in English or its equivalent.
    • Submit a psychometric exam administered by the Psychological Evaluation Center of the University Center for Health Sciences. 
    • Pass a basic concepts exam for the Health Sciences area.
    • Submit a letter of intent to pursue a Master's degree in Medical Microbiology.
    • Submit a letter of commitment to full-time dedication to the program.
    • Interview before a committee made up of four professors, three from the core academic staff and one external to the core academic staff. 
    • Register in SIIAU and pay the corresponding fees. 
    • Approve the other requirements published in the respective call for applications.
    • Foreign applicants must comply with all of the above, demonstrate language proficiency, and present the corresponding immigration authorization. 
    • For international students, in addition to the above, documents must be apostilled, and if they are in a language other than Spanish, a translation must be provided. Furthermore, a technical assessment must be requested from the Postgraduate Coordination office.
