General objective of the program:

Strengthening the field of environmental education through i) the training of specialists in the design, execution and evaluation of educational research and intervention projects; ii) the development of research processes that address central themes of the aforementioned field and other related ones; iii) the extension of knowledge and the link with social actors involved in the solution of environmental problems, all within the framework of a critical, interdisciplinary, dialogical and intercultural perspective.

Specific objectives:
  • The student should be able to develop the following skills and knowledge:
  • To train specialists with knowledge, skills and values ​​that allow them to make critical interventions under the approach of complexity, from the theoretical and methodological frameworks of environmental education, in regional, national and local contexts that present problems linked to the relationship between societies and nature.
  • To promote research in environmental education through the strengthening of postgraduate knowledge generation lines, the completion of quality degree projects and participation in inter-institutional projects that favor the theoretical/practical deepening of the field.
  • To contribute to the spread of environmental culture through both strategic partnerships with social actors interested in it, and through participation in and encouragement of efforts to extend knowledge related to environmental concerns and proposals.

Goals
  • To comply with the number of environmental educators that must be trained in each generation of the postgraduate program, as established by the ruling approved by the General University Council of the University of Guadalajara.
  • To comply in a timely manner with the requirements established by the postgraduate regulations of the UdeG and Conacyt for the graduation of students in each generation of the master's program.
  • Increase the number of annual publications and academic products generated in postgraduate studies.
  • To independently or in collaboration with other entities or social actors, hold an annual national event of relevance to the field of environmental education.
  • Participate annually in at least one advisory, research or educational intervention initiative or project that broadens the involvement of postgraduate studies in solving local or national environmental problems.

Admission Requirements

In addition to those stipulated by current university regulations, the following are required: 
  • Bachelor's degree or graduation certificate and proof of completion of social service, or equivalent from any area of ​​knowledge.
  • Demonstrate a minimum average of eighty with an original certificate or equivalent document from previous studies, as applicable.
  • Demonstrate a minimum level of B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR) in English, or its equivalent (exceptionally, an applicant with a minimum level corresponding to A2 may be admitted and upon completion of the postgraduate program, it will be required to present the B1 level).
  • Letter of intent explaining the reasons for taking the program.
  • Certificate of satisfactory approval of academic capacity issued by the Postgraduate Academic Board with a minimum grade of 80, which includes:

  1. Pass the preparatory course with a minimum grade of 80 (40%).
  2. Approval of the reception work protocol with a minimum grade of 80 (30%).
  3. Satisfactory evaluation of the curricular experience in the area of ​​environmental education (10%).
  4. Satisfactory evaluation of the interview designated by the Academic Board (20%).
