The general objective of the Master's Degree in Local Government Management is to train high-level human resources in the management of local government management with a specialty in disciplinary border areas, offering participants solid theoretical tools for the analysis of problems, as well as as competencies for the management of organizations that are part of the institutional frameworks that host, form and impact contemporary local governments, together with civil society organizations and private initiative organizations.
The particular objectives of the Master's in Local Government Management program are:
  • Provide students with analytical tools for the management of sub-national governments and especially local governments;
  • Guide students in the subject on the management of public affairs and policies, understood generically as public action in specific socio-political action systems.
  • Provide local government professionals in the management of sub-national policies in areas of innovative knowledge, considering among others:  public management; public health; Water and energy; cultural development; Sub-national judicial management; Territory management.
  • Train students in terms of high-value leadership and public management, offering their own tools for consensus building, negotiation and conflict resolution in networks of public affairs and policies, both generic and specific to specialty topics;
  • Train in the management and direction of public organizations and the social sector.
