The general objectives of the Master of Science in Mathematics are:
  • Form specialized human capital at the master's level in areas of mathematics to contribute to a better educational, scientific and technological development, and
  • Strengthen basic and applied research in the field of mathematics.
 
The specific objectives of the Master of Science in Mathematics are:
  • Train the student in key areas of mathematics, with emphasis on the field where he focuses his thesis work;
  • Develop in the student skills and a scientific culture so that he is able to participate in research projects related to mathematics and in the solution of complex problems with the support of mathematical models and algorithms;
  • Provide mathematical and scientific training to students to favor their insertion in the labor market of the educational, scientific and technological system of Jalisco and the region; including the possibility of continuing with doctoral studies in disciplines related to mathematics, and
  • Increase the scientific production of the academics of the University of Guadalajara who attend the Master's degree with the participation of its students.

Admission Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor's degree or bachelor's degree examination certificate and proof of completion of social service in mathematics, physics or areas related to the program, in the opinion of the Academic Board;
  • Minimum average of eighty in their previous undergraduate studies;
  • Submit the aptitude test established by the Postgraduate Academic Board and pass it with the score established by the Board itself;
  • Prove the reading comprehension of the English language;
  • Submit a curriculum summary with relevant supporting documents;
  • Letter of explanation of reasons to study the program;
  • Meet with the admission committee made up of postgraduate professors appointed by the Academic Board;
  • Those additional ones established by the corresponding call.
