The Master's program in Transdisciplinary Studies in Science and Technology is proposed as a postgraduate program oriented to transdisciplinary research, lasting four semesters in a school-based modality that seeks to ensure that the graduate is able to identify and define complex problems through collaborative work to generate knowledge, propose solutions from a disciplinary field articulated to other disciplinary fields and address socially relevant topics with the aim of transcending disciplinary paradigms, in an attempt to create a unit of knowledge that generates a holistic research project reflected in a thesis work.   Students of the Master's Degree in Transdisciplinary Studies in Science and Technology participate in a process in which members from different areas of study work together to develop new conceptual and methodological frameworks to produce transcendent theoretical approaches to their higher education disciplines.    In transdisciplinary research, the starting point is the definition of a problem that is independent of disciplinary perspectives. From this, research questions are raised that derive from real-world problems, which are subsequently divided into sub-problems to be addressed in an articulated manner by the different disciplines. Finally, the results are integrated to propose solutions according to the complexity of the problem. Transdisciplinary research, then, goes beyond academia and includes articulation with different stakeholders: government, civil society and other non-academic groups.  In this way, the transdisciplinarity proposed as a postgraduate perspective can be seen as a set of innovative collaboration networks that emphasize the need for a basic theoretical framework, the mobility of knowledge and the use of innovation, since from the proposal of a new research paradigm, a problem cannot currently be addressed from a single discipline.   Thus, the Master's Degree in Transdisciplinary Studies in Science and Technology aims to promote research through three Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge: Biotechnology, Health and Sustainability; Sociocultural context, cognition and behavior and, Materials Technology, Complex Systems and Sustainability. The main purpose is for the university community to be able to undertake the scientific study of the phenomena that emerge due to the multicultural, demographic, socioeconomic and technological characteristics of the Northern Zone of Jalisco and Southern Zacatecas, as well as addressing national problems.
