In Latin America there has been an exponential development of university training programs in cultural management, which has been focused on the professionalization of empirical cultural managers, leaving behind the processes of training and disciplinary institutionalization. Thus, there is an increasing demand to advance towards the processes of academic institutionalization as a disciplinary field, as experienced by Education, Communication and various human and social sciences at the time during the 20th century. These processes require the strengthening and generation of disciplinary knowledge, through scientific research of high academic rigor, social relevance, international dialogue and, above all, a strong link with the public, private, productive and community sectors.

In this sense, the Master's Degree in Cultural Management is a postgraduate program oriented towards applied research on the discourses, practices, models, policies and strategies of managing culture in contemporary society. Its approach to analysis and interpretation is based on the paradigm of complexity, so the approach and treatment of its objects of study is critical, interdisciplinary and intercultural, considering the different dimensions and interrelationships of culture and its agents.

This postgraduate course is part of an initiative of the Latin American Network of Cultural Management that seeks the professional and disciplinary consolidation of cultural management in our region through the formation of interuniversity research groups in the space of the Latin American Observatory of Cultural Management.

The postgraduate course has two training cycles:

  • Master's Cycle : It focuses on training capacities to generate, transmit and apply knowledge for innovation in the field of cultural management. It has a duration of 2 years.
  • Doctorate Cycle : It focuses on the training of researchers capable of generating unprecedented knowledge in the field of cultural management to contribute to the consolidation of cultural management as a disciplinary field. It has a duration of 3 years.

Applicants who have a Bachelor's degree may enter the Master's Cycle, those who have a Master's degree may enter the Doctorate Cycle directly.
