Goals
  • To train specialists in scientific and technical research in the area of ​​conservation of built heritage and the history of Mexican architecture, who objectively identify and analyze problems, whose results serve to generate sustainable proposals for our society.
  • To train new reflective researchers, capable of making critiques on the concepts and theoretical and methodological approaches for the study of the history of habitable and built space in Mexico, at different scales and levels, allowing them to develop strategies for research in this discipline. 
  • To form a disciplinary body with a sense of social and critical awareness, which develops new professional alternatives and research with levels of academic excellence.
  • Promote the transfer of knowledge to the development and practice of heritage conservation projects and architectural history.

Admission Requirements

In addition to what is established by current university regulations, the following: 


  • A copy of a professional degree certificate or diploma issued or recognized by the University of Guadalajara in one of the following Bachelor's degrees: Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, History, or Urban Planning and Environment. Applicants from other disciplines will be subject to the consideration of the program's academic board.
  • Have a minimum overall average of 80 in the previous level of studies.
  • Pass a knowledge exam (Take the CENEVAL Exani III exam).
  • Submit research protocol.
  • Taking the preparatory course as a mandatory prerequisite.
  • Submit and pass a reading comprehension exam in at least one foreign language.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from renowned research professors.
  • Submit a letter of full-time dedication to the Postgraduate Academic Board.
  • Fulfill the other requirements indicated in the corresponding call for applications.
