The PhD program in Chemical Engineering at the University of Guadalajara boasts a multidisciplinary faculty with the capacity and experience to generate and apply scientific knowledge, conduct research projects, provide technical consulting, and train new researchers. The core faculty consists of 13 professors, all members of the National System of Researchers (two at Level III, six at Level II, and five at Level I), guaranteeing a solid, high-quality education for students. With a strong academic staff and state-of-the-art infrastructure, this program offers comprehensive training for those seeking to make a positive impact on science, technology, and society.

The curriculum is eight semesters (four years), flexible, and consists of required courses (Mathematics, Thermodynamics, Transport Phenomena, and Chemical Kinetics) that serve as a foundation for the other courses. Once students have completed these courses, they can choose electives that align with their thesis research focus.

The PhD in Chemical Engineering aims to train high-level researchers with scientific, technological and ethical capabilities, specializing in strategic areas such as Polymers, Nanotechnology, Rheology, Electrochemistry and Process Control.

This program is aimed at professionals with a research vocation, discipline, creativity and social commitment, capable of generating cutting-edge knowledge and developing innovative technologies that respond to the current and future challenges of the productive, social and governmental sectors, both nationally and internationally.

The research projects developed in our postgraduate program address cutting-edge topics of national and global interest with a direct impact on solving real-world problems, such as: remediation of contaminants in water and soil, polymer recycling and development of biodegradable polymers, biological treatment of agro-industrial effluents, use of organic waste (such as cellulosic biomass) to remove contaminants from water, development of nanomaterials for medical applications (controlled drug delivery, tissue regeneration), optimization of industrial processes using advanced process control tools, and design and study of electrochemical systems applied to energy, sensors, and water treatment.
