The Master's program in Behavioral Science with a focus on Behavior Analysis is developed over a period of 4 semesters (24 months).

After this period, the General Postgraduate Regulations of the University of Guadalajara establish a maximum ordinary period of 1 year for obtaining the degree of MASTER OF BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE.

The program is structured around three core areas that extend across the four semesters, each with clearly differentiated objectives. Before detailing the academic objectives established for each semester, the overall purpose of these areas is outlined below:

  1. SUPERVISED RESEARCH: To train students in the skills required for knowledge generation. To this end, students join a tutor's laboratory from the beginning of the program. The training is divided into two periods: 1) the student participates in a tutor's project and, guided by them, approaches the knowledge generation process; and 2) subsequently, in the originally assigned laboratory or any other they choose, they begin developing a research project for their degree under the supervision of their advisor and thesis committee.
  2. DIRECTED STUDY: Two objectives are sought: 1) to provide students, during the first 2 semesters of the program, with the theoretical foundations of Behavior Analysis, which will allow them to approach the study of the phenomena under investigation during their research project with conceptual solidity and 2) in the last two semesters, the aim is for students to stay updated on the phenomena that, at the time they are taking the program, are receiving greater attention internationally in the field of Behavior Analysis.
  3. PROSEMINAR: To introduce students to the knowledge generated by other nationally and internationally renowned laboratories through short courses taught by the heads of these laboratories. This initiative has a dual objective: 1) to understand what and how other laboratories approach the knowledge generation process, as well as the results obtained, and 2) to create future links with these laboratories that promote both reciprocal research stays and the development of collaborative research.
  4. THESIS SEMINAR: During the fourth semester, students will work on writing their thesis, culminating in its presentation to a panel for the Master of Science in Behavioral Science degree. The Thesis Seminar course will monitor the progress of the writing, providing continuous and periodic feedback from the thesis committee.

In addition, during semesters 3 and 4, students must take two elective courses (one in each semester), with the following general purpose: ELECTIVE COURSE: To complement and strengthen the students' training as required for the proper development of their research. To this end, these courses may be offered by NAB professors or taken at other departments of the University of Guadalajara or other Higher Education Institutions, with the prior approval of the student's advisor and the authorization of the program's Academic Board.
