The PhD program in Information Technologies emerged in 2006 as a regional initiative whose main purpose is to generate socially impactful research. It is also strategic for industry, government, academia, and society, as it fosters national and international competitiveness. Evidence of this includes projects focused on smart cities, the healthcare sector, manufacturing processes, video game technologies, complex simulations, and other areas, all supported by public funds and providing added value to participating organizations. The program actively engages with various sectors nationally and internationally, seeking relevance and visibility through a network of internationally renowned universities and participating in events that bring together current and relevant technological topics for social benefit. The PhD program in Information Technologies offers participants a solid scientific foundation and the opportunity to conduct formal research, which, where applicable, may be recognized by intellectual property bodies. The program proposes collaborative work between students and faculty, as well as research in external institutions, applied to Business Process Analysis, Data Mining, Optimization, Simulation, Distributed Systems, Advanced Virtual Reality Interfaces, Knowledge Management, and the E-World. The program aligns with the university's strategic priorities outlined in the Institutional Development Plan and the CUCEA Development Plan, both 2019-2025, VISION 2030, with institutional projects that actively promote the planning and updating of study programs and link quality research. It proposes solutions to social problems within the national context, among other priority components of CONACYT (National Council of Science and Technology). These priorities guide the development of theses or research projects that converge in diverse disciplines, and the construction of proposals for the innovative and efficient use and implementation of Information Technologies in organizations, society, and business.
