The transformations the world, and Mexico in particular, are experiencing today demand that every academic institution rise to the occasion, not only by demonstrating a special sensitivity to the problems we face, but also by preparing professionals and researchers with the openness to define and understand the realities of their environment.

In the case of the Master's Program in Socio-Territorial Studies, our focus is on the study and analysis of local, regional, and territorial conditions, landscapes, borders, the global, and the glocal, among others. These spheres are characterized by their complex and dynamic relationships of production, marketing, land ownership, use of natural resources and technology, the relationship between rural and urban areas, regional and international migrations, and the emergence of social actors who, through various means, seek to resolve their daily problems individually and/or collectively.

Analyzing these phenomena in the current scenarios of globalization presents challenges to understanding them, as the future of spaces/territories is linked to the transformations of nation-states, geopolitical power strategies, global market trends, and the difficulties faced by the agents who make them effective.
