Lines of research and social impact
General objective. The Master's and Doctoral program in Human Sciences and Culture aims to train professionals with a strong sense of responsibility towards understanding and solving social problems from a humanistic, interdisciplinary, and collaborative perspective, with a solid theoretical and methodological foundation that allows them to propose and develop relevant, pertinent, and original research projects, as well as participate in the social appropriation of knowledge.
Specific objectives. Those corresponding to the Doctoral phase are:
- Cultural history and gender studies.
- Culture and cognition.
- Cultural heritage and international connections from the local level.
Lines of research and social impact
- Cultural history: studies of secularization and women.
- Gender studies.
- Culture and Cognition Studies.
- Local processes and actors for the projection and linking of heritage and culture.

Specific objectives. Those corresponding to the Doctoral phase are:
- To train professionals with a solid theoretical and methodological foundation in the humanities, capable of critically addressing sociocultural phenomena and generating original, cutting-edge and relevant knowledge for the resolution of sociocultural problems related to the humanities, culture and heritage.
- To train professionals capable of actively participating in the design and development of projects with social actors representing other ways of generating knowledge and researchers from diverse disciplines.
- To train professionals with a solid theoretical and methodological background in the humanities, capable of designing and developing professional cultural projects for the rescue, conservation and projection of local heritage on national and global scales.
- To train human resources with the ability to communicate research results in the academic and scientific field, as well as the ability to contribute to universal access to knowledge through dissemination and social appropriation of the knowledge generated.
- To generate relevant knowledge for understanding social problems both in their origin and in the present, which can also be used as input for intervention projects or public policies for the resolution of local and national problems.

Admission Requirements
In addition to those established in university regulations, the following are required:
Applicants who are graduates and/or have received a degree from the University of Guadalajara are exempt from submitting a simple copy or original of the requirements established in sections a), b) and c) of this resolution, since the school archive already contains the electronic information of the same.
For students with previous studies completed abroad, in addition to the above, the following is required:
The degree, certificates and birth certificate must be apostilled or the applicable procedure for countries not members of the Hague Convention and if they are in a language other than Spanish, accompany a translation by an accredited expert.
- Simple copy of the Bachelor's degree or graduation certificate in areas related to Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Simple copy of the master's degree or degree examination record in areas related to Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Applicants must demonstrate a minimum grade point average of 80 with an original certificate or equivalent document from their previous studies, as applicable. Foreign applicants, in addition to meeting the aforementioned academic and institutional requirements, must possess immigration authorization and demonstrate financial solvency.
- Original birth certificate.
- Have a Unique Population Registry Code (CURP). In the case of foreigners, it must be valid.
- Present and pass a reading comprehension exam in at least one foreign language, preferably English or French (minimum B1 of CEFR or intermediate TOEFL 337-459 through a certificate issued by a recognized institution).
- Pass the admission exam (EXANI III minimum score of 700).
- Submit the letter of acceptance issued by a professor from the Basic Academic Core, in which they accept to be your Thesis Director.
- Letter of intent explaining your reasons for taking the program, mentioning the time commitment, preferably full-time.
- Curriculum evaluation and interview with members of the academic core of professors.
- Register with SIIAU and pay the corresponding fees.
- Submit a research project proposal.
- Approve the other requirements published in the respective call for applications.
