The Doctoral Program in Social Sciences at the University of Guadalajara has 29 years of experience training high-level researchers in the social sciences. Since its inception, it has graduated 194 students, with a completion rate of nearly 90%. The most recent cohort, the 15th, entered in 2019. Ninety-eight percent of its students have received CONACYT scholarships.

Most of our graduates are currently engaged in research, according to our alumni tracking system, and are members of the National System of Researchers (SNI) at levels I, II, and III. Some of our international graduates who have returned to their home countries have even received SNI recognition. Furthermore, some of our graduates have received national awards, such as the recent award for best doctoral dissertation in social sciences in 2019 from the Mexican Academy of Sciences.

Our doctoral program's commitment to continuous improvement and postgraduate quality has led to its evaluation three times by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), receiving the highest rating for international competence; the most recent evaluation was in 2016. All of our core faculty members belong to the National System of Researchers (SNI), and 70% are at levels II, III, and Emeritus, reflecting their high academic output and participation in national and international research and events. The curriculum was most recently revised in December 2018.
