Mexico and the world are experiencing an epidemiological moment in which nutrition-related diseases predominate, both due to excesses, such as overweight (in its different degrees) and chronic degenerative diseases, as well as deficiencies such as malnutrition and anemias.


The current state of nutrition research is out of balance with the needs and demands of Mexican society. This direct doctoral program is a research-oriented, on-campus educational program lasting 10 academic semesters (5 years), within the framework of the translational research model. Its purpose is to train highly qualified professionals capable of addressing problems related to the food and nutrition process through multidisciplinary work between basic and applied sciences, in order to innovate and optimize the generation and application of knowledge in this area.

Admission Requirements

In addition to those stipulated by university regulations, the following apply: 
  • Bachelor's degree or graduation certificate in nutrition, medicine, pharmaceutical chemistry and biology, or related degree; the Academic Board will consider the contents of the program taken by the applicant and their professional experience.
  • Original official certificate that proves a minimum average of eighty.
  • Curriculum vitae with evidence of your academic and research career.
  • Letter of intent explaining the reasons for taking the program.
  • Letter from the applicant indicating their commitment to full-time dedication to the postgraduate program, as well as to completing it on time and in the proper manner.
  • Demonstrate, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, proficiency in the English language, at least at level B1 (B2 desirable), or equivalent (examples of exams: TOEFL ITP, TOEIC, IELTS, etc.).
  • Pass the basic research knowledge exam, proposed by the Academic Board.
  • Pass the nutrition knowledge exam determined by the Academic Board.
  • Conduct an interview with at least two members of the Academic Board (preferably composed of full-time professors from the program).
  • Submit a preliminary work plan related to the program's knowledge generation lines.
  • Presentation on a topic related to nutrition, assigned and evaluated by the Selection Committee.
  • Those established by the call for applications.
