The objectives of the Doctor of Science in Chemistry are:
a. Train high-level human resources capable of generating scientific and technological knowledge that contribute to the sustainable development of the western region and the country;
b. Train high-level human resources capable of applying knowledge in an original and innovative way in the following areas of chemistry: a) physical chemistry, b) polymer chemistry, c) inorganic and environmental chemistry, d) biochemistry and natural products;
c. Collaborate in regional development by linking with the productive and social sector, promoting the participation of students and professors in research projects with external financing;
d. Strengthen the research activities and scientific productivity of professors attached to the postgraduate course, encouraging their permanence in the National System of Researchers and their level increase in it.

Admission Requirements

  • The master's degree or, where appropriate, the degree examination certificate.
  • Accredit a minimum average of eighty, with an original certificate or a comparable document, of the previous studies.
  • Pass a selection exam consisting of.
  • A general knowledge test in: chemical thermodynamics, mathematics, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and biochemistry.
  • An English test (reading and comprehension).
  • An exam of mathematical logical reasoning and analytical logic.
  • Pass an interview with a member of the academic staff.
  • Letter of explanation of reasons to study the program.
  • Approve the other requirements published in the respective call.
