The Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering, emerges in October 2021 as a research postgraduate degree with the aim of training highly trained researchers, professors and professionals in the knowledge of conventional materials, for the research and development of new materials. The program has a flexible curriculum, which allows diversifying the training of human resources in different basic and applied scientific, technological and management specialties in polymer science and engineering, surface engineering, tribology, construction materials, hybrid materials, as well as the simulation and modeling of its manufacturing processes and final characteristics, according to international criteria of academic quality. This program is outlined to be able to enter the National Postgraduate Quality Program (PNPC) which will become the National Postgraduate System (SNP). In this sense, the Lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge (LGAC) of the postgraduate course are related to the Strategic National Problems (ProNacEs): Water, Housing and Toxic Agents and Polluting Processes.
The duration of this academic program is eight semesters (four years). There are four LGACs: Polymer Technology, Surface Engineering and Tribology, Modeling and Simulation, as well as Complex Materials and Ceramics. The degree is obtained through the presentation and defense of a thesis obtained from a product of an original research work.
The income is semi-annual, starting its operation in the 2022-A cycle. The cost of tuition is 3 Units of Measurement and Updating (UMA) per semester for national students and 5 UMA's for foreign students.
