The  Faculty of Fine Arts of the UCM launched the university Master's Degree in Art Education in Social and Cultural Institutions in the 2013/14 academic year  with a teaching load of 60 ECTS credits. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) held in Lisbon in 2006 the World Conference on Arts Education: Building Creative Capacities for the 21st Century. In this meeting, specialists from all countries in the field of artistic education laid the foundations and the route that artistic education should develop in the next ten years. This tour was organized in the document the Road Map for Arts Education. In this document, in addition to referring to culture and its access to it as a human right, it establishes that the vehicle for this is the development of artistic education. UNESCO, in its guidelines, actively encourages governments and other agencies to facilitate collaboration between ministries, departments, cultural institutions, NGOs and arts professionals and recognizes the importance of developing an arts education policy that articulates the links between communities, educational and social institutions and the world of work.
