Musicology is currently in force in the main European universities, enjoying a solid and consolidated tradition in university teaching. The Complutense University of Madrid (which has taught this degree since 1997) is now transforming its degree into a new Degree in Musicology , adapted to the new European Higher Education Area. These studies respond to the demand of numerous students who study music or who have received musical training. Musical activity has been occupying an increasingly active role within the culture and leisure sector in Spain. In this sense, Musicology studies have formed a group of capable professionals who have been occupying jobs with an ideal preparation, offering a channel of activity related to music different from those of mere instrumental practice. Graduates of Musicology studies at the Complutense University of Madrid carry out their professional activity in very diverse fields, such as teaching, support in the management of musical heritage or the media. To this end, the Department of Musicology of the Complutense University of Madrid, made up of professors of accredited international prestige, with a deep dedication to the investigation of musical heritage, is available. In addition, the Faculty of Geography and History where the degree is taught, located on the Moncloa campus, offers students ample means such as numerous musical collections collected in its library, as well as an important sound library, computer and audiovisual resources.
