The Master's Degree in Spanish and Latin American Music is an official degree, adapted to the European Higher Education Area. It offers an advanced and specific study of the musical heritage of Spain and Latin America. It is inserted therefore in the development of Musicology studies in the Spanish university and in the growing research activity on this subject in recent years. In it, the student is provided with the training tools for the study of its history, sources and historiography, as well as the mastery of methodologies such as documentation, analysis or musical edition. For this, the teaching of the Department of Musicology of the Complutense University of Madrid, the only independent one that exists in the Spanish university dedicated to this discipline. Formed by professors of accredited international prestige, with a deep dedication to the investigation of the Spanish and Latin American musical heritage, which has generated numerous projects and publications on a wide variety of topics. There are four active research groups in the Department (Musical Iconography, Spanish Music of the 19th and 20th Centuries, Ancient Music and Popular Music) in addition to the endorsement of the Complutense Institute of Musical Sciences, a reference center and fundamental institution for the study and recovery of Spanish and Latin American musical heritage.

Admission Requirements

If you come from an EU country you must have a bachelor's degree from a Spanish university, or from a university in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). 

If you are a graduate from outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) you can access the university without the need to officially certify your degree, once the UCM has verified that your level of studies is equivalent to a bachelor's degree at a university in Spain. Access via this route does not in any case imply the official certification of your degree prior to starting your Masters course.
