The general and specific competences proposed correspond to those required to grant a Master's degree, in accordance with Annex I of the RD of October 29 1393/2007. The Master's Degree in Research in the Spanish Language has as its main purpose that the student acquires advanced and specialized training that allows him to develop a research activity in the Spanish Language. Consequently, the objective of the master's degree is to train specialists in the various fields of study of the Spanish language who are capable of:
- Develop research tasks that allow them to access doctoral studies.
- Apply theoretical and methodological knowledge to the different professional fields based on them.
Accordingly, the master's degree qualifies for the performance of professional activities that require advanced and specialized knowledge of the Spanish Language, such as:
- Teaching in Spanish Language at university level.
- Research in Spanish Language.
- Lexicography
- Editorial advice for the preparation of textbooks related to the Spanish language.
- Advice on the Spanish language in companies related to communication, automatic natural language processing (language processing and recognition, digitization, machine translation) and other branches of applied linguistics (forensic linguistics, psycholinguistics, etc.).

Admission Requirements
If you come from an EU country you must have a bachelor's degree from a Spanish university, or from a university in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
If you are a graduate from outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) you can access the university without the need to officially certify your degree, once the UCM has verified that your level of studies is equivalent to a bachelor's degree at a university in Spain. Access via this route does not in any case imply the official certification of your degree prior to starting your Masters course.
