According to the ACM, Degree in Computer Engineering is defined as the discipline that incorporates the science and technology of the design, construction, implementation and maintenance of the software and hardware components of modern computer systems. Computer Engineering has always been seen as a combination of computer science (CS) and electrical engineering (EE). However, it has evolved over the last few decades as a separate, albeit closely related, discipline. Computer Engineering draws heavily on the theories and principles of computer science, mathematics, science, and engineering and applies these theories and principles to solve technical problems through the design of computer hardware, software, networks, and processes. Computer engineering graduates are involved in many aspects of hardware and software development, from the design of individual microcontrollers, microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers to the design of software specific to these platforms.
