The objectives of Degree in Fine Arts are listed below:

  • Provide the ability to identify and understand the problems of art through practical experimentation, stimulating processes of perception and conceptualization of those aspects of reality that can be treated artistically.
  • Training to develop artistic creation processes by learning the different technologies, favoring critical reflection on the work itself and awareness of the context in which it is developed.
  • Teach the problems defined by other artists, as well as the solutions given by them, the criteria used and the reason for them.
  • Prepare to recognize the different functions that art has acquired in relation to the sociocultural contexts in which it has been generated. Learn about the evolution of the different forms of expression, their interactions and mutual influences, and understand how they shape the present and condition the future.
  • Training to acquire knowledge about the structure of the cultural industry, as well as the location and configuration of the decision-making centers related to it.
  • Enable those who study the Degree to develop artistic creation strategies by carrying out individual or team projects, under the awareness of the transforming capacity of art, as an active agent in the configuration of cultures.
  • Train the graduate from the artistic experience that, as an experience of knowledge, constitutes the basis for identifying the different professional profiles of graduates in Fine Arts.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to this degree, you must meet the requirements for access to the University contemplated by current regulations: selectivity, International Baccalaureates, Validation agreements, access for people over 25 years of age, over 40 years of age, etc. You have all the details on the University Admissions page: ucm.es

In the case of non-native Spanish speakers, according to the Agreement of the Governing Council of January 29, 2019 (BOUC of February 7, 2019), which approves the Spanish language requirements for admission to Degree and Master's degree and linguistic/language skills, all students from non-Spanish-speaking countries or educational systems must prove a knowledge of Spanish according to the CEFR level B2, at the time of submitting the application for admission to the Degree.
