The Degree in Geological Engineering provides the knowledge to train a field specialist, whose work is integrated into the project, management and execution of public works, in what refers to its geological-geotechnical aspects: recognition of the ground, underground works and excavations, foundations, road works, and also the investigation, evaluation, management and protection of natural resources, waste storage, restoration, rehabilitation and control of highly impacted natural environments, as well as the evaluation and forecast of geological risks. Geological Engineering has had an important development in Spain at the end of the 20th century, in parallel with the development of public works. The Faculty of Geological Sciences has been teaching and researching Geological Engineering for more than 30 years, possibly being the Spanish center in which specific teachings on this subject have been taught for the longest time.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to this degree, you must meet the requirements for access to the University contemplated by current regulations: selectivity, International Baccalaureates, Validation agreements, access for people over 25 years of age, over 40 years of age, etc. You have all the details on the University Admissions page: ucm.es

In the case of non-native Spanish speakers, according to the Agreement of the Governing Council of January 29, 2019 (BOUC of February 7, 2019), which approves the Spanish language requirements for admission to Degree and Master's degree and linguistic/language skills, all students from non-Spanish-speaking countries or educational systems must prove a knowledge of Spanish according to the CEFR level B2, at the time of submitting the application for admission to the Degree.
