The Master's Degree in Political Theory and Democratic Culture is the only master in Spain dedicated almost exclusively to political theory. However, this is one of the most relevant fields for the discussion, analysis and reorientation of the values and principles that govern our societies. The current democratic systems are immersed in an environment of uncertainty. On the one hand, there is a broad and complex debate on the validity of representative democracy, which some opinions see as belonging to an era already surpassed by new economic, social and technological realities, to which they would not know how to respond. Other voices, on the other hand, warn of the little viability of non-representative systems and of the negative consequences that their implementation would have. In convergence with this debate, new parties and social movements have emerged that question the economic, educational and cultural model of the Western world, proposing new forms of social activism, but lacking a solid theoretical reflection to support them. In the global world in which democratic systems are inserted, new problems and conflicts are also emerging that demand a different response from that generated by classical politics. Migrations, religious clashes, political violence, the interventionism of supranational organizations, the exacerbation of nationalism, are likewise phenomena that are at the center of strong debates in all societies. Social Sciences address these problems from sociology, political science or international relations, and some master's studies seek to train active politicians, who will immediately make the teaching received profitable and become professionals in the public sphere.
