The Double Degree in History - Classical Philology is offered by Faculty of Geography and History and Faculty of Philology. Historically, the studies of Ancient History and Classical Philology have been closely linked for obvious scientific reasons. Despite this, the successive reforms of the curricula of university degrees have had a drift that has led to an absolutely "unscientific" separation between the two disciplines. This drift has currently led to Degrees in which the presence of subjects from one discipline in another is reduced to one semester of History of Greece and Rome in Classical Philology, and one semester of Language (to choose between English, French, German, Latin or classical Greek) in History. The consequence of this situation, after passing through several study plans, are promotions, many already, of graduates in History, specializing in Ancient History, who do not know the classical languages and, consequently, cannot directly consult the sources, nor ultimately understand them in their true dimension, and of graduates in Classical Philology with huge gaps in their historical training and, like those, limited in their ability to fully understand the texts with which they work.
