The Double Degree in Psychology - Speech Therapy allows students to obtain a complete training in both degrees, as well as an integration of both disciplines in professional performance. From Psychology, knowledge and skills necessary to understand, interpret, analyze and explain human behavior are provided. Speech therapy provides the necessary knowledge and skills for the prevention, evaluation and intervention of language, speech, voice and communication disorders. Graduates in Psychology and Speech Therapy must be able to:

  • Prevent, detect, identify, evaluate, and provide treatment and intervention to people of all ages with, or at risk of suffering from, the pathologies or disorders that are the object of its action.
  • Advise individuals with these disorders, as well as their families, caregivers or other professionals, and act as an expert witness or expert, if required to do so.
  • Select, prescribe, dispense and provide assistance to support the effective use of augmentative and alternative communication resources, as well as communication prostheses and other assistive devices, in the case of speech therapy intervention.
  • Teaching, supervising, and directing psychological intervention programs, as well as developing and supervising research programs and activities related to language, communication, and their disorders.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of their activity, modify the services in relation to their evaluations and disseminate these findings.
  • Provide services in settings deemed appropriate, including but not limited to health care, such as in educational, community, vocational, and home settings.
  • Intervene in the processes of health promotion and improvement of the psychological and/or communication skills of people in the general population, without the need for alterations or disorders.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to this degree, you must meet the requirements for access to the University contemplated by current regulations: selectivity, International Baccalaureates, Validation agreements, access for people over 25 years of age, over 40 years of age, etc. You have all the details on the University Admissions page: ucm.es

In the case of non-native Spanish speakers, according to the Agreement of the Governing Council of January 29, 2019 (BOUC of February 7, 2019), which approves the Spanish language requirements for admission to Degree and Master's degree and linguistic/language skills, all students from non-Spanish-speaking countries or educational systems must prove a knowledge of Spanish according to the CEFR level B2, at the time of submitting the application for admission to the Degree.
