The purpose of the Master's Degree in Psychoanalysis and Theory of Culture teachings is for students to acquire advanced training, of a multidisciplinary nature, aimed at academic specialization and promoting their initiation into research tasks. Specifically, this master's aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills so that they can independently undertake research work in the field of Psychoanalysis as well as knowing how to apply said knowledge and skills in their own areas and those related to psychoanalytic theories and methods. Specific competences include:

  • Show a critical understanding of the main theories, principles and concepts of Psychoanalysis.
  • Demonstrate originality and creativity in the application of psychoanalytic knowledge to different cultural settings.
  • Knowing how to identify new problems and issues in the interdisciplinary relationships of Psychoanalysis.
  • Being able to understand, analyze and evaluate the contribution that Psychoanalysis has made to the health sciences and the culture of our time.
  • Know the conceptual transformations that psychoanalytic knowledge has operated in the field of humanities and social sciences.

Admission Requirements

If you come from an EU country you must have a bachelor's degree from a Spanish university, or from a university in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). 

If you are a graduate from outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) you can access the university without the need to officially certify your degree, once the UCM has verified that your level of studies is equivalent to a bachelor's degree at a university in Spain. Access via this route does not in any case imply the official certification of your degree prior to starting your Masters course.
