Master's Degree in Psychogerontology aims to study the cognitive, emotional and behavioral development of older people by analyzing biopsychosocial variables that affect the process of continuous change they face. The exhaustive description of all the variables involved has given rise to the creation and optimization of multiple own instruments for the evaluation and intervention on the psychological processes that affect health and, ultimately, quality of life. With regard to cognitive performance, learning and memory emerge as the most studied abilities as they are responsible for the first symptoms of the most frequent degenerative dementia in our environment: Alzheimer's disease. However, perception, language or executive functions -among other cognitive processes- are equally crucial for people's performance and their deterioration undermines, even to a greater extent, functional autonomy. For this reason, over the last few years primary prevention and cognitive intervention programs have been developed based on scientific evidence and a commitment to comprehensive approaches to environmental enrichment has begun.

Admission Requirements

If you come from an EU country you must have a bachelor's degree from a Spanish university, or from a university in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

If you are a graduate from outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) you can access the university without the need to officially certify your degree, once the UCM has verified that your level of studies is equivalent to a bachelor's degree at a university in Spain. Access via this route does not in any case imply the official certification of your degree prior to starting your Masters course.
