The Graduate Program in Biochemistry at the Institute of Chemistry at USP began in 1970, with the central objective of uniting research at the frontier of knowledge in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the training of well-qualified, competent and capable of developing independent and innovative lines of research. It is a program of excellence in its area, being evaluated by CAPES with the maximum concept since the Brazilian postgraduate evaluation system was implemented.
The program currently includes a corps of approximately 40 advisors. Most of these advisors are part of the faculty of the Department of Biochemistry at USP 's Institute of Chemistry. The program also includes full advisors from the Butantan Institute and Hospital Sírio-Libanês. These researchers work on a diverse set of relevant research projects in the areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
