In addition to the basic core disciplines, taken by all students of the bachelor's degree courses in Chemistry at IQUSP, the student can direct his training by deepening in certain areas of chemical knowledge.

One of these options is the emphasis on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Currently, these areas constitute the common language and foundation of many areas of knowledge and essential tools for solving various technological challenges. It is also recognized that the basic curriculum of Chemistry is, at the Brazilian university, the most suitable for training a biochemist with solid theoretical and experimental bases in molecular sciences to understand, act and solve problems of a biological and environmental nature.

The Bachelor of Chemistry course with an emphasis on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology has the ideal duration of 8 semesters (with a minimum of 7 semesters and a maximum of 14 semesters), with a total workload of 2985 hours in mandatory/optional/elective subjects and 1260 hours of work, totaling a workload of 4245 hours.

The specific disciplines of this modality will be offered in the full period. Students of the Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry course at night may also attend these disciplines, obeying the availability of vacancies.
