The teaching staff of the PPG-LB is made up, for the most part, of professors from the Brazilian Literature Area of the Department of Classical and Vernacular Literature. Professors from other units of the University of São Paulo also participate in the PPG-LB, in addition to visiting professors from Brazilian and foreign universities. In recent years, the Program has encouraged postdoctoral projects and research by recent doctors.
Admission to the master's and doctoral programs takes place through a selection exam, the criteria of which are defined through public notices. The Graduate Program in Brazilian Literature is a CAPES program of excellence, having obtained a score of 6 in the evaluation of the 2017-2020 quadrennium. The breadth of the program is also expressed in its four lines of research (Poetry in Brazil, Prose in Brazil, Historiography and Literary Criticism, Literature, the other arts and other areas of knowledge), as well as in the variety and scope of the projects in development.
