This branch of Engineering is focused on researching new materials and new industrial uses for existing materials, such as resins, plastics, ceramics and metallic alloys. Students in the course acquire knowledge about raw materials, processing, characterization, properties, structures and applications of materials, with an emphasis on the relationships between microstructure, processing, properties and material performance. Alongside the study of materials, he also learns the fundamentals of production and manufacturing processes.
