The Graduate Program in Environmental Science (PROCAM) is linked to the Institute of Energy and Environment of the University of São Paulo (IEE-USP) and offers Strictu Sensu Master's and Doctorate Courses. It is an Interdisciplinary Program, created in 1989, which aims to train researchers capable of proposing alternatives to the diverse demands of society in socio-environmental issues.

Issues such as global warming, conservation of biodiversity, contaminated areas, management of water resources and urban solid waste, among others, make up the biggest current challenges. Therefore, socio-environmental problems ceased to be a novelty and were incorporated into the public policies of several governments, in addition to being the focus of important social movements.

Its faculty includes researchers from Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Human Sciences, Exact Sciences and Applied Sciences, whose main challenge is the exercise of interdisciplinarity. Together, they seek to understand the complexity of the problems generated by the different social formations and their relationship with the environment.

The challenge of training researchers with this profile fosters a systematic reflection on socio-environmental problems that encourages the interaction of professionals from many areas and on different scales, such as international, national and local.
