The Graduate Program in Design at FAUUSP intends to train high-level researchers for the academic and professional spheres in the country. With this, it is expected to raise the level of reflection and performance of design, understood as a field of knowledge that deals with the configuration of the visual, material, spatial and digital environment, through interdisciplinary approaches, taking into account cultural, ethical, social, economic and environmental.

The Graduate Program in Design at FAU USP brings together professors linked to the three departments of FAU and other USP units such as the Polytechnic School (EP) and the School of Communication and Arts (ECA), including internationally renowned researchers and Young talents.

The Master's and Doctorate courses offered by the Program provide for a set of intellectual and educational activities (disciplines, seminars, participation in events, research, writing and publication of texts, qualifying and defense exams), accompanied by an advisor, developed within the scope of a single Area of ​​Concentration (Design), and two lines of research: 'Design: Processes and Languages' and 'Theory and History of Design'.

The 'Design' Area of ​​Concentration covers investigations into historical, conceptual and theoretical aspects that underlie and constitute the field of design; research on project processes in the area of ​​design, involving prospecting points of view, methods, production and use of products, systems and services; and studies on the relationship between design and related fields.
