The Graduate Program in Design at FAU USP brings together professors linked to the three departments of FAU and other USP units such as the Polytechnic School (EP) and the School of Communication and Arts (ECA), including internationally renowned researchers and Young talents.

The Master's and Doctorate courses offered by the Program provide for a set of intellectual and educational activities (disciplines, seminars, participation in events, research, writing and publication of texts, qualifying and defense exams), accompanied by an advisor, developed within the scope of a single Area of Concentration (Design), and two lines of research: 'Design: Processes and Languages' and 'Theory and History of Design'.

The 'Design' Area of Concentration covers investigations into historical, conceptual and theoretical aspects that underlie and constitute the field of design; research on project processes in the area of design, involving prospecting points of view, methods, production and use of products, systems and services; and studies on the relationship between design and related fields.
