The Graduate Program in Information Science (PPGCI) has the fundamental objective of strengthening research and teaching in the area. The program outlined its area of ​​concentration in order to integrate the basic guidelines of the field of Information Science to the cultural references of contemporary society. Currently, the area of ​​concentration of the Culture and Information program is composed of three lines of research:

  1. Social Appropriation of Information: studies are carried out on the processes of social appropriation of information, considered in their educational and cultural aspects, defined as specific objects of Information Science;
  2. Management of Information Devices: includes the analysis of the variables that interfere in the management of flows, in order to guarantee the adequacy of products and services to the needs of the user in specific contexts;
  3. Organization of Information and Knowledge: theoretical and methodological studies are carried out on the organization of knowledge and information and its circulation, access, recovery and use.

The Professional Master's Degree in Information Management aims to streamline the relationship between scientific research and applied research, facilitating the appropriation of theoretical references in the area for the development of intervention projects in the world of work with regard to the processes of organization, mediation and circulation of information.
