The implementation of the Professional Master's Degree in Medicine was motivated by the need to improve the training of resident physicians, in order to meet the demands of the current job market for professionals with the ability to critically analyze the scientific and technological production in their area, knowledge of public policies of health, and autonomy in the management of their professional performance. In short, its general objective is to develop skills and competences that enable physicians to change and improve health practices.

The Professional Master's Degree in Medicine,  a graduate program recently approved by CAPES,is intended for physicians who have attended or are regularly enrolled in Medical Residency Programs recognized by the National Commission for Medical Residency. The teaching staff is composed of physicians from different areas of Medicine – Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Physiatrics, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Health and Family Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Pediatrics and Psychiatry. Professors have a solid technical-scientific background, associated with health care practice, with experience in organizing services, establishing clinical protocols and developing new health technologies.
