The Graduate Program in Foreign Languages and Translation (LETRA) originates from the Graduate Program in Linguistic, Literary and Translation Studies in French (ELLTF), whose creation dates back to the 1970s. The restructuring of the PPG into ELLTF aims to create a program that is guided by affinities, conformities and epistemological parities and that is not based only on sharing the same language-culture. After being renamed and restructured, the program now houses the former Jewish and Arabic Studies, Russian Literature and Culture, and Translation Studies (TradUSP) programs, in addition to specialist professors in other languages. USP's vocation is confirmed, and more especially in the area of Humanities, for the plurality of languages and research perspectives.
