The Graduate Program in Animal Reproduction (PPGRA) was created in 1976 for the master's level, and after 13 years of existence it also started to offer vacancies for doctorates (1993). As it was the only program in the country with an emphasis on Animal Reproduction until 2018, the PPGRA has always been considered a national reference in the area, preparing opinion formers (professionals, teachers and researchers) who are distributed in Brazil and abroad. In its 44 years of history, PPGRA has approved 303 master's dissertations and 186 doctoral theses, demonstrating consistency in obtaining titles and scientific production.

Our body of advisors, in addition to acting in various basic and applied aspects of Animal Reproduction (ranging from gamete formation to postpartum physiology and application of advanced biotechnologies), develops partnerships with other areas of agrarian sciences (genetics, nutrition, production, conservation, animal welfare, among others), and is composed of specialists in various animal groups such as ruminants (cattle, buffaloes, goats and sheep), horses, pigs, birds, dogs, cats and wild animals. This diversity of research fields and species culminates in a wide network of partnerships with national and international institutions. Such a technical-scientific environment provides a broad and interdisciplinary view of Animal Reproduction.
