The Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Sciences at the Hospital de Reabilitação de Anomalias Craniofacials (HRAC) at the University of São Paulo (USP) broadly aims to train highly qualified human resources in the area of Orofacial Clefts and Related Anomalies, based on academic-scientific principles, able to act in the dissemination of knowledge and contribute to the advancement of the area with the generation of new knowledge.

Strictly speaking, it aims at the interdisciplinary training of researchers in the applied area and, simultaneously, their qualification for teaching, research and for the differentiated exercise of their functions with leadership and supervisory capacity. It is a proposal with an academic and multidisciplinary profile, offered by a Reference Center in the area.

The Interdisciplinary objective of this program, bringing together different areas of health around the problem of orofacial clefts, seems to be somewhat unprecedented in Brazil and in the world. In other national and international centers, orofacial clefts are researched within specific Plastic Surgery, Dentistry or Speech Therapy programs. Our program contemplates such areas of knowledge, intertwining them with Genetics, Physiology, Psychology and Physiotherapy. Such areas interact both in some disciplines of the program and in multidisciplinary research projects.
