The Graduate Program in Immunology was created in 1983 from the joint action of the professors of the recently created Department of Immunology of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of São Paulo (ICB/USP). The Master's and Doctoral programs were created simultaneously and received grade A in the first CAPES evaluation. From the 1998-2000 period, when CAPES modified its criteria and scores, our Program received a grade of 6, but in subsequent evaluations it received the maximum grade (score 7), which it has maintained ever since. A striking feature of our program is the variety of research areas of its advisors. We offer lines of research in inflammation, allergy, cancer, vector immunobiology, immunogenetics, neuroimmunomodulation, bacterial, virus, fungal and protozoal immunology.
