The general objective of the Biological Sciences Course is defined in the same terms as the general objective of the Graduation: “training a competent professional, socially critical and responsible for the destinies of a society that wishes to be fair, democratic and self-sustainable (Objetivos da Graduation, USP, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, October 2000). The Department of Biology, as a whole, is able to offer basic, broad and solid training, with adequate theoretical and practical foundations, which includes knowledge of the diversity of living beings, as well as their organization at different levels, phylogenetic, evolutionary and with the environment in which they live and this constitutes the objective of the Bachelor's Course in Biological Sciences at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto, at the University of São Paulo.
