The Graduate Program in Clinical Medicine, one of the first in clinical medicine in Brazil, has the general objective of providing in-depth scientific training to researchers, aiming to develop technical, scientific and ethical skills in the field of research, teaching and assistance in the area of health.

Since the knowledge within Clinical Medicine is very comprehensive, multi- and interdisciplinarity are outstanding characteristics.

The central axes of the curricular structure are focused on teaching disciplines about the mechanisms associated with: i) disease production in adults and the elderly, ii) disease investigation procedures, iii) disease treatment based on pathogenic mechanisms. In parallel, given the constant concern with the quality of health education and the formative and summative assessment of students, the program has also focused on the axis of health education.

Initially, the program admitted only doctors, aiming at studies focused on the prevention, promotion and treatment of diseases. Coinciding with the creation of the Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Informatics, Nutrition and Metabolism Courses at FMRP USP, there was an expansion of the profile of students allowing the participation of non-medical students, expanding inter and multidisciplinary.
