The professional to be graduated by the course will be qualified for design with an interdisciplinary approach, covering visual design, products, services and their systems, considering the characteristics of the users and their socio-cultural, political-economic and environmental context, as well as the potentialities and economic and technological limitations of the productive units.

The Design Course at FAU USP prioritizes the systemic vision of the project and the creative capacity to propose innovative solutions, mastering the different stages of the development of a project. The designer formed by FAU USP must be able to use his own and appropriate language, expressing concepts and solutions , in his projects , according to the different techniques of representation and visual reproduction.

He will be trained to interpret social and cultural needs, and, through the project, to enable solutions to the problems demanded by society. For this, it must consider the potential and economic and technological limitations of the productive units, the interests of society, and have knowledge of production management, quality, productivity, costs and human resources management. 

It should also be co-responsible for the good technical, environmental and cultural performance of these products, in view of their durability and effectiveness in use. To help reflect on the social role of their profession, this professional should have a historical, political, ethical and prospective view of the area of ​​design.
