The Postgraduate Program in Allergy and Immunopathology was the first of its kind created in Brazil. The training of masters began in 1978, doctors in 1998. During these 26 years, the Program has improved in training masters and doctors who work in the area of basic and applied immunology, as well as of physicians in the field of Clinical Immunology and Allergy. Several of them are progressing in scientific and higher education careers.

Its main objective is to train new researchers with international scientific competitiveness. They must be able to generate innovative knowledge, implement and develop new methodologies and properly disseminate their results in scientific vehicles of excellence, thus contributing to the scientific and technological development of the country. In addition, at the end of their doctorate, graduates should be able to raise funds from National and International Development Agencies to stimulate development, to train new researchers and to promote the nucleation of new research groups.
