The Department of Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP) was created in 1999, developing teaching, research and extension activities.
The department houses three undergraduate courses that have existed for almost 50 years at FMUSP: Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy.
In 2001, the Department began the process of creating a Postgraduate Program, since many professors, since 1997, had been supervising Postgraduate programs at FMUSP and other USP units.
On December 12, 2004, the Rehabilitation Sciences Program was created, which at the end of 2022, achieved a grade 6 in the CAPES evaluation.
The program covers four lines of research:
- Hearing
- Language
- Function and Dysfunction in Physiotherapy
- Social Intervention in Occupational Therapy
