The Discipline of Endocrinology and Metabology is taught to students of the 4th year of graduation in Medicine at FMUSP, inserted in the specialties module of the Internal Medicine Course.

The Endocrinology course consists of theoretical and practical classes addressing the following topics: Diabetes, Thyroid, Adrenal, Pituitary, Bones and Obesity. Each class consists of an introduction to physiology, etiological and differential diagnosis and laboratory and radiological approach to the patient. The students, supervised by the professor, evaluate the patients through history and physical examination followed by discussion of the clinical case. For each class, professors with experience related to the topic addressed are assigned. Classes are taught in small groups of approximately 6 students, during 6 periods of 4 hours. All students receive a CD-ROM with the course content. At the end of the course, an evaluation test of the acquired knowledge is carried out.
