The Postgraduate Program in Management and Innovation in the Animal Industry (PPG-GIIA), of the School of Animal Science and Food Engineering (FZEA) of the University of São Paulo (USP), was approved to begin its activities at the end of 2012 and the Program Coordinating Committee was sworn in on February 20, 2013. The first selection process for candidates for the Program was completed on June 11, 2013 and the inaugural class, in the Amphitheater of the Main Building of the USP Campus in Pirassununga with the first 15 students enrolled, took place on July 26, 2013. Seven and a half years after its inaugural class, the PPG-GIIA has shown good demand and strong insertion of its students in the job market, promoting the improvement and development of several professionals linked to the most varied areas of activity within companies in the sector.

This has led to a search for professionals who want to adapt to new forms of management and innovation in the operationalization of knowledge, thereby increasing their skills within their areas of activity. It has also shown great interest in the part of companies in the agri-food system in encouraging their employees to return to academia in search of a Company x University interaction. This movement has been supported by the development of internal projects by companies in partnership with the Program, in the search for new solutions or improvements to techniques already existing in the market today, with the aim of improving their performance in the market of the company itself and its employees.
