Created in 1970, the Post-Graduate Program in Mathematics (PPG-Mat) at ICMC is one of the most traditional in Brazil and also one of the most graduates of masters and doctors in the country. The excellence of the scientific level of the program was recognized as an international level in the last three-year evaluation by CAPES, which assigned a score of 7, the maximum concept.
The PPG-Mat aims to prepare its students for teaching and research careers at universities. The purpose of the master's course is to provide students with conditions to perform, with proficiency, undergraduate teaching functions, as well as to initiate them professionally in research. In the doctoral course, the purpose is to provide broad and in-depth scientific training to the student, developing scientific research capacity in Mathematics.
